Benjamin Franklin, born in 1706 in Boston, Massachusetts, hailed from a family of Puritans. Seeking refuge from religious persecution, his parents immigrated from England to the English colony of Massachusetts. At the age of ten, Franklin left formal education and worked alongside his father for two years, subsequently joining his brother’s newspaper venture. By the time he reached sixteen, he had already assumed the role of the newspaper’s editor. Driven by a desire for independence, Franklin ventured to Philadelphia, where he founded his own newspaper. Through diligent effort and meticulous saving, he had emerged as one of Philadelphia’s most successful individuals by the age of 24.

In 1732, Franklin published a seminal work titled Poor Richard’s Almanack, which departed from the traditional almanacs of its time. While most almanacs catered to farmers, providing information on the calendar, weather patterns, and agricultural advice, Franklin infused his almanacs with profound wisdom and life observations.
